Terms

Terms of service

Effective 1 July 2026. Eleven sections, no defined-terms appendix, and the important one is second.
01

The agreement

These terms are between you and Tutorly Inc., a Delaware C corporation at 100 Summer Street, Suite 1600, Boston, MA 02110. By creating an account or using Tutorly you agree to them. If you are agreeing on behalf of a school, parent or organization, you confirm you are allowed to.

We have written these in plain English on purpose. A product that is supposed to make things clearer should not hide behind four thousand words of its own.

02

Tutorly is a learning tool, not an answer service

Tutorly guides students through their work with questions and small steps. It does not do assignments for you to submit as your own. Using Tutorly to understand a problem and then write your own answer is fine. Submitting a Tutorly session as your own work, or asking Tutorly to produce finished work you will hand in, is not.

Guidance produced by language models is carefully reasoned and usually correct. Like any tutor, it can be wrong, particularly on judgment about your specific situation. You are responsible for checking your final answers against your own understanding and your course materials. Treat Tutorly as a patient tutor, not an answer key.

03

Your account

  • You need an account, and the information on it must be accurate.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep the password to yourself.
  • One person per seat. The Family plan includes up to four student profiles and each is for one named student.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using your account.
  • If you are under 13, a parent or guardian must create and oversee your account.
04

Your work stays yours

Problems you submit and the sessions produced from them are yours. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service: to process the text, send it to a model provider to produce your session, and store the result for you.

We do not use your sessions to train models, we do not sell them, and we do not share them with anyone other than the model provider producing your session. You can delete any session, or the whole account, at any time.

05

What you may not do

  • Use Tutorly to produce finished work that you submit as your own in violation of your school's academic honesty policy.
  • Resell or white-label the output as your own tutoring service without a written agreement with us.
  • Attempt to extract the prompts or scrape the service in bulk.
  • Upload malware, or deliberately try to break the service for other people.
  • Use Tutorly to break the law, or to process material you have no right to hold.
06

Plans, payment and cancelling

  • The free plan includes a limited number of guided sessions per week, reset on a rolling basis.
  • Student is $12 a month and Family is $24 a month, in US dollars. Annual billing is ten months for twelve, charged once.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. We will not hide the cancel button, and we will not require a phone call.
  • Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep read access to sessions you have already run.
  • If we raise prices, existing subscribers keep their price for at least 12 months and get 30 days' notice.
  • Refunds: if something we did stopped Tutorly working for you, email us and we will refund the period. We would rather give the money back than argue.
07

Availability

We aim for Tutorly to be available and we publish incidents on the status page. We do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee at this stage of the company, and we would rather say so than promise one we have not built the redundancy to keep.

08

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Tutorly is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

09

Ending it

You can stop using Tutorly and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where we reasonably can we will tell you why first and give you a chance to export your sessions.

10

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Both of us waive a jury trial. We have not put an arbitration clause in, because we would rather not rely on one.

11

Changes

If we change these terms materially we will email account holders at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Carrying on using Tutorly after that means you accept the new version. This version is effective 1 July 2026.

The plain version of our integrity stance is on the integrity page. Questions about any of this go to hello@tutorlylabs.com and a person will answer.
